When a gorgeous young caretaker moves in to help out, Granny's house becomes a macabre place of death- and illicit romance- in a murderous thriller with twists and turns reminiscent of Hitchcock. Tokyo Tribe. Directed by Shion Sono. Written by Sono and Santa Inoue. Produced by Yoshinori Chiba and Nobuhiro Iizuka. From XYZ Films. Color, 2015, Japan, 116 minutes, not rated. Sci-Fi/Musical. Starring Tomoko Karina, Hitomi Katayama, Akihiro Kitamua, Ryohei Suzuki, Shota Sometani and Kokone Sasaki. In an alternate Japan, territorial street gangs form opposing factions collectively known as the Tokyo Tribes. Merra, leader of the Wu-Ronz tribe of Bukuro joins forces with heavy hitting sadistic gangster Buppa of Buppa Town. With Buppa's support, Merra aims to initiate a gang war between the Wu-Ronz and the Musashino Saru, and in a confrontation between the two attempts to kill popular member of the Musashino Saru - Kai. By mistake, Merra instead kills Kai's friend Tera (a Musashino Saru member beloved by members of all Tribes since before their formation). The story of John, a small time crook, who finds an unlikely accomplice in Louis, a newly-orphaned teenage boy. As their open-road adventure progresses and John drags the kid on a string of robberies, the pair forge an unexpected and powerful bond.
