First Glance Film Festival
April 20 - 23. Laemmle NoHo 7. Shows a mix of short and feature length indie films before they hit theaters. Audiences vote for "Best of the Fest" and are invited to come mix and mingle with filmmakers, cast and crew at after parties.

Cinema at the Edge Independent Film Festival

Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival
April 27 - May 4. Various Locations. Since 1983, the LAAP Film Fest has presented nearly 4,000 films, videos, and digital media works by Asian international and Asian Pacific American artists. Features seminars and panels, in-person guest appearances, and filmmaker awards.
Garifuna International Indigenous Film Festival
May 12, 13, 20, 21, 27. Electric Lodge. Showcases films and documentaries created by Garifuna filmmakers and many other indigenous people. Includes feature films, short films, panel discussions, workshops and cultural presentations.
RAW Film Festival

Annual Los Angeles Dog Film Festival
Aug 5 at Writers Guild Theater. Although there are no dogs allowed at this theater, there will be a Pooch Party on Aug 4 at Only in Beverly Hills, a dog-loving boutique.
Hollyshorts Film Festival
Aug 10-19 at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. Showcases the best and brightest short films from around the globe. Devoted to the advancement filmmakers through screenings, Q&A sessions and networking events.
168 Film Festival
August 26-27 at Regal Cinemas Premiere House at LA Live. Short films competing to become a feature film.
Long Beach Indie Film Festival
Aug 30-Sept 3 at Cinemark at the Pike Theaters. The festival will feature a five-day international entertainment experience and a career fair for young artists looking for careers in entertainment, arts and digital media.
Cinecon Classic Film Festival
Aug 31-Sep 4 at the Egyptian Theater. Features rare, unusual and unjustly forgotten movies from the silent and early sound era with celebrity guests and film, book and movie memorabilia shows. Silent films include a live piano to accompany the movie.
Burbank International Film Festival
