We're thrilled to announce the award winners for the 14th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles!

Grand Jury Awards

Best Feature: VISAARANAI  (INTERROGATION)
Best Actor: Sanjay Mishra in MASAAN
Best Actress: The cast of PARCHED, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte, Surveen Chawla and Lehar Khan
Feature Honorable Mention: ALIGARH
Feature Honorable Mention: MASAAN

Best Short Film: PLAYGROUNDS
Short Film Honorable Mention: LEECHES
Short Film Honorable Mention: THE MANLIEST MAN

Audience Choice Awards

Best Feature: PARCHED
Best Short: (DAARAVTHA)  THE THRESHOLD

The prestigious 2016 narrative film jurors were: filmmaker Shonali Bose (MARGARITA, WITH A STRAW); Features Editor at Variety, Shalini Dore; and international consultant to independent filmmakers and film festivals, Alesia Weston.

Judging the short films were actor Rizwan Manji (NBC's OUTSOURCED); documentary filmmaker Laura Nix (THE YES MEN ARE REVOLTING); and film director and editor Aldo Velasco (CHITTAGONG).

The festival saw record attendance this year, with packed houses throughout its five-day run.

Jury Winners for Feature and Short
Congratulations to the 2016 award winners! In awarding Best Feature VISAARANAI, the jury described it as a "complex and multilayered examination of systematic abuse of power"; regarding Best Short PLAYGROUNDS, the jury stated it won for its "portrayal of two families in crisis, using a quiet economy and powerful yet subtle performances."

Closing Night Gala WAITING
IFFLA 2016 concluded on Sunday evening with a red carpet and gala fete featuring the North American premiere of Anu Menon's poignant and stirring feature WAITING, starring Kalki Koechlin, who was in attendance, and Naseeruddin Shah. The Gala capped off a festival that showcased nearly 30 films, including features, documentaries and shorts, at ArcLight Hollywood.
