Out & About with Susan Hornik

The year is off to a good start with lots of activities happening throughout Hollywood. Now that we're into Awards Season, part of the fun is visiting the gifting suites. For GBK Productions and Pilot Pen's Golden Globes gifting suite at the W Hotel in Hollywood, numerous celebrities Viola Davis (ABC's How To Get Away With Murder and a nominee), Gina Rodriguez, (star of The CW's Jane The Virgin and a nominee!) Anthony Anderson, (ABC's Blackish) and Diana Maria Riva (NBC's Telenovela) received luxury items from companies like Burke Williams, LifeCell, Freedom Quit Smoking, iRestore Laser Hair Growth System, TheScienceofEating.com and enjoyed Ike's gourmet sandwiches and delicious cakes from Bread Basket.

I also enjoyed meeting the family who runs Jewelinx, two wonderful parents who have come up with an innovative way to hang jewelry in your closet. Extra special shout out goes to their son Julian, a bright young boy who was more than happy to tell me all about his mom's product!

With every new calendar year, the ongoing quest to get everything accomplished is always at the top of my mind, and writing lists are imperative! In the Pilot Pens' booth, guests were encouraged to find out which Pilot pen best fits their individual writing style. Dolvett Quince, one of the fitness coaches on NBC's The Biggest Loser, extolled "I love being organized at my office, and these pens are exactly what I need at a moment's notice to write all my great ideas down!" The suite showcased Pilot's luxury Namiki pens, considered works of art and created via the Maki-e technique, a Japanese art form dating back more than 1,500 years.

If you are shopping around Hollywood, be sure to pick up Pilot Pen's FriXion erasable pens and highlighters -- the perfect organization hack for busy schedules. This simple tool will keep the entire family organized all year long with minimal effort and cost, and is so easy to implement, it's a resolution you'll actually keep all year long!

I have been attending the TV Critics Press Tour and there has been lots of news there! "I'm excited to share that [Twin Peaks creator] David Lynch is more than halfway through shooting schedule, and it will premiere in the first half of 2017," Showtime CEO David Nevins announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Prior to this announcement, the revival was expected to premiere "sometime in 2017."

Twin Peaks, which aired on ABC from 1990 to 1991, followed FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (played by Kyle McLachlan) as he investigates the curious murder of a homecoming queen in the sleepy town of Twin Peaks, Wash.

Many of the cult drama's original cast members are returning for the revival, including McLachlan, Laura Dern and Sherilyn Fenn.

Also, new CBS president Glenn Geller raised the possibility of a crossover between his network's Supergirl and the CW's DC superhero drama The Flash. "I have to be really careful what I say here," Geller said when asked by reporters if the two shows could connect onscreen. "Watch and wait and see what happens!" Supergirl and The Flash already share a team of executive producers, with Greg Berlanti, DC's Geoff Johns , Sarah Schechter, Andrew Kreisberg  behind both shows

A healthy thought for this year is buy a cookbook from West Hollywood's Fig & Olive. FIG & OLIVE: The Cuisine of the French Riviera" has great recipes you can try in your kitchen! The cookbook's detoxifying recipes are perfect for anyone vowing to eat healthier in 2016, Author/Founder, Laurent Halasz' work celebrates whole fruits and vegetables by enhancing their taste with simple seasonings and a careful drizzle of olive oil. It just so happens that the health benefits of his dishes are simply a happy coincidence.

FIG & OLIVE offers an elegant yet casual dining experience featuring the regional coastal cuisine of France, Italy and Spain. Each dining experience begins with a selection of extra virgin olive oils from FIG & OLIVE's retail collection of olive oils from around the world. Raised in the town of Mougins in the South of France, Halasz bases the culinary foundation of FIG & OLIVE's menu on simple, healthy ingredients that have always been the essence of cooking in his hometown. At FIG & OLIVE, Halasz finds inspiration in his yearly sojourn through Italy, Spain, and the South of France, where together with his mother Francine, they discover new olive oils and local recipes to create the farm-to-table menus for the restaurant.
