Produced by Angelika Giatras, a World Premiere of 'Holy Holy! The Birth of Disco', at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2025, is wild, fun and exciting, with a different outlook on women in their work and play. The characters are shaking hands with the audience at the beginning with some chaotic, robotic movements, and you wonder which planet are you on?
Under the direction of award-winning Natasha Mercado, this surreal storytelling takes us into the wild, naughty, and twisted comedy, a magic world of seven women who love working hard at the beginning, because work repulses the benefits, and putting money into investments is their moto. They are obsessed with work, and they made the whole audience stand up, take their phones, wave them, then go to the app store and become a self-thought marketer, because they are all investors that evening. Eventually the feminine rebellion over capitalism and hard work, takes them to the other side of the spectrum, where certain rituals take place with sexual awakenings and like in a dream sequence, a mysterious egg is born, a symbol for disco - a ball with flickering lights. The kind of bizarre absurd rituals are done with fun and joy. The flexibility in movements and the voice qualities of the performers stand out firmly. Beautiful ensemble work explores great trust in each other. The production of Holy Holy! The Birth of Disco is nearly sold out. So, I would recommend getting your tickets soon, if you wish to see it.
