SUMMARY:THE BAND: From Woodstock to The Last Waltz
DESCRIPTION:The Band: From Woodstock to The Last Waltz chronicles the evolution of one of rock music’s most influential groups through photographs by Elliott Landy and Larry Hulst. Landy’s intimate images capture Levon Helm\, Robbie Robertson\, Rick Danko\, Richard Manuel\, and Garth Hudson during their formative Woodstock years\, while Hulst documents the group’s legendary 1976 farewell concert\, The Last Waltz\, alongside artists including Bob Dylan\, Joni Mitchell\, Muddy Waters\, Neil Young\, Eric Clapton\, and Van Morrison. \nThe exhibition traces The Band’s journey from its roots backing Bob Dylan to the creation of Music from Big Pink\, The Band\, and ultimately one of the most celebrated farewell concerts in rock history. Marking the 50th anniversary of The Last Waltz\, the show offers a visual history of a group whose blend of country\, blues\, gospel\, folk\, and early rock reshaped American popular music. The exhibition remains on view through November 14\, 2026.

SUMMARY:A Table for Fortune
DESCRIPTION:National Book Award winner William T. Vollmann discusses A Table for Fortune\, his monumental four-volume\, 3\,000-plus-page novel spanning more than half a century of American politics\, war\, family\, and personal upheaval. Moving from the Cold War through September 11 and the War on Terror\, the book blends archival history with an intimate family saga centered first on CIA analyst Elliott Stevens and later on his son Matthew. \nSpanning 1968 to 2019\, the work draws on materials including Stasi documents\, Iraqi newspapers\, and presidential broadcasts while tracing addiction\, disillusionment\, ambition\, and the complicated inheritance of one generation by the next.
