SUMMARY:THE SCHOOL OF LOS ANGELES Herb Rills\, Greg Gorman\, Matthew Rolston
DESCRIPTION:Fahey/Klein Gallery brings together Herb Ritts\, Greg Gorman\, and Matthew Rolston in The School of Los Angeles\, an exhibition examining three photographers who helped redefine glamour and celebrity portraiture in Southern California from the late 1970s through the 1990s. Their images shaped magazines\, album covers\, advertising\, music videos\, and film\, creating a visual language of fame\, beauty\, identity\, and aspiration that continues to influence contemporary photography. \nThe exhibition highlights three very different approaches to portraiture: Ritts’ sculptural idealization\, Gorman’s intimate psychological focus\, and Rolston’s theatrical\, highly constructed imagery. Together\, their work captures a formative moment in Los Angeles visual culture and asks whether this shared period can be understood as a distinct artistic movement. The exhibition remains on view through November 28\, 2026.

SUMMARY:BENJAMIN ECHAVERRIA Images
DESCRIPTION:Overduin & Co. presents Benjamin Echeverria: Images\, a solo exhibition centered on the artist’s restrained and highly considered approach to image-making. The works emphasize repetition\, spacing\, surface\, and formal balance\, creating compositions that feel minimal at first glance but reward close attention to subtle shifts in scale\, rhythm\, and structure. \nThe exhibition’s quiet visual language allows small changes in shape and placement to become the focus\, encouraging viewers to slow down and consider how meaning can emerge from reduction and repetition. Images remains on view through November 7\, 2026. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM.

SUMMARY:YNEZ JOHNSTON In Search of the Oracle
DESCRIPTION:Ynez Johnston: In Search of the Oracle surveys seven decades of the artist’s richly imaginative practice\, bringing together paintings\, drawings\, prints\, sculpture\, ceramics\, and mixed-media works shaped by a lifelong fascination with ancient civilizations\, myth\, travel\, and invented worlds. Johnston’s visual language blends influences ranging from Maya glyphs and Tibetan thangkas to Byzantine mosaics\, transforming them into strange cities\, creatures\, symbols\, and dreamlike landscapes. \nRather than simply borrowing from historical sources\, Johnston fused those references into a highly personal mythology filled with chimerical beings\, ritual spaces\, and imagined journeys. Spanning works from the 1950s through the 2000s\, the exhibition reveals the continuity of her remarkable inner world across multiple mediums. The exhibition remains on view through January 9\, 2027.

SUMMARY:DAN LEVENSON SKZ Centimeter Studies Classroom
DESCRIPTION:In SKZ Centimeter Studies Classroom\, artist Dan Levenson expands the fictional world of the State Art Academy\, Zürich\, an imaginary twentieth-century Swiss art school that he has developed across paintings\, furniture\, performances\, and fabricated archival materials. The exhibition presents paintings supposedly created by students responding to exercises based on the centimeter\, alongside classroom furniture designed according to the same austere formal principles. \nConcentric bands\, carefully measured forms\, aged surfaces\, and strict pedagogical rules give the installation the atmosphere of a classroom unearthed from another era. Through this invented academy\, Levenson explores questions about how creativity is taught\, who gains access to artistic education\, and how aesthetic systems and ideas circulate through culture. The exhibition remains on view through November 7\, 2026.
