DESCRIPTION:David Zwirner is pleased to present its third solo exhibition with the Zimbabwean artist Portia Zvavahera (b. 1985). Taking place at the gallery’s 606 N Western Avenue location in Los Angeles\, this presentation will feature a series of new paintings that continues to develop the artist’s subject matter by joining her carefully charted dream worlds with her lived experience and daily rituals. Zvavahera expands her practice with familiar motifs and narratives; her works are populated by symbolic creatures that become powerful conduits for the interpretation of spiritual visions and the contemplation of our earthly existence. This will be Zvavahera’s first solo exhibition in Los Angeles since 2017. \nIn 2024\, Kettle’s Yard\, University of Cambridge\, England\, opened Zvakazarurwa\, a solo exhibition of Zvavahera’s work organized in collaboration with Fruitmarket Gallery\, Edinburgh\, where the show traveled in 2025. Curated by Tamar Garb\, this exhibition marked Zvavahera’s first solo institutional presentation in the United Kingdom. Also in 2024–2025\, the Fondation Louis Vuitton\, Paris\, presented the solo show Imba yerumbidzo (House of Praise) as the fifteenth iteration of its Open Space exhibition series. In August 2025\, the Institute of Contemporary Art\, Boston\, opened Hidden Battles / Hondo dzakavanzika\, the artist’s first solo show in the United States\, which will be on view through January 2026. The artist will also open a solo exhibition at Fridericianum\, Kassel\, on September 27\, 2025.

There is a palpable tension in these drawings\, a push/pull between humor and a darker more sinister impulse. These are echoes of a scream\, residue from dreams\, transformative and ever rupturing. While Wood’s opportunistic raven engage in mischief making\, the humans in Wood’s work struggle for intimacy and connection\, albeit at a high price. DESCRIPTION:Michael Kohn Gallery is extremely proud to announce Dorian’s Gardens\, an exhibition by New York-based artist Nir Hod. Dorian’s Gardens opens October 11\, 2025\, and will be on view through January 2026. \nThis new body of work expands upon Hod’s chrome and oil painting series\, 100 Years is Not Enough\, an ongoing study of various bodies of water rendered by Hod’s loose yet seductive impressionistic style and iconic chroming\, mirror-like technique. \nIn addition to the new group of lustrous\, pastoral landscapes\, this exhibition will include intimate works on paper that appear as details of the much larger canvases\, a rare realist painting and a figurative bronze sculpture. \nIn his nearly 30-year career\, Hod has consistently delved into the duality of human nature as subject matter for his paintings. The dichotomous themes of beauty and death\, flourish and decay\, vanity\, perfection\, destruction\, and the overall fragility of life permeate from his earliest bodies of work\, such as the Genius and Mother portraits\, to his most recent\, reflective minimal canvases of the series 100 Years is Not Enough. \nMost recently\, Hod’s work debuted at the House of Dior’s newest flagship store on 57th St. in Manhattan\, designed by architect Peter Marino.
