El DeBarge is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known for his incredibly distinctive and expressive high tenor and soaring falsetto that has defined R&B, soul, and pop for decades, earning him a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the “200 Greatest Singers of All Time.” His career initially took off in the early 1980s as the focal point and primary lead vocalist of the family group DeBarge, delivering timeless Motown classics like the crossover smash “Rhythm of the Night,” “All This Love,” and “Time Will Reveal.” After leaving the group in 1986, he launched a successful solo career with the hit “Who’s Johnny,” and established himself as a respected collaborator, lending his unmistakable voice to tracks by Quincy Jones, Tone Loc, and Fourplay.
