In the Tomb of Ten Thousand Calendars

Moving Arts presents the world premiere of In the Tomb of Ten Thousand Calendars, an ambitious drama by Stephen Dierkes that unfolds across three moments in Chinese history—1620, 1966, and the present day—all within the tomb of a Ming emperor. Across four centuries, the play follows intimate stories of people confronting family, political upheaval, memory, and the complicated question of what societies choose to preserve or erase.

Directed by Jeff Liu and featuring Jonathan Cheung, Elaine Kao, Wayne Lee, and West Liang, the production balances sweeping historical change with deeply personal conflicts, exploring the connections between generations and the ways the past continues to shape the present.
