Henry Diltz

December 9, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Henry Diltz is a renowned American rock and roll photographer and folk musician who is considered the visual historian of the 1960s and 1970s California music scene, particularly the artists of Laurel Canyon, famous for his candid, intimate “fly-on-the-wall” style. Diltz began his career as a founding member of the Modern Folk Quartet and only picked up a camera by chance in a secondhand store, but his natural rapport with his musician friends—including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and the Eagles—allowed him to capture their lives in unguarded moments. His work is instantly recognizable, having graced the covers of over 250 album covers, most notably The Doors’ Morrison Hotel and the self-titled debut album of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and he served as the official photographer at the Woodstock and Monterey Pop festivals. He is a co-founder of the Morrison Hotel Gallery, which specializes in fine-art music photography, and continues to document the music scene today, having received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Grammys.
