California Light and Space: The 21st Century Version
June 4 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Organized by Helen Molesworth, California Light and Space: The 21st Century Version revisits the legacy of Southern California’s Light and Space movement through the lens of contemporary Los Angeles. The exhibition gathers artists whose work reflects the city’s distinctive geography, atmosphere, and visual conditions, from the basin’s mountains and ocean light to its layered cultural landscape. Featuring artists such as Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Noah Davis, rafa esparza, Jennifer Guidi, Lauren Halsey, EJ Hill, Catherine Opie, Lari Pittman, Cauleen Smith, and others, the show considers how today’s artists continue to respond to perception, material, place, and the unique “terroir” of Los Angeles.
