JON CHING  Paths of Least Resistance

In Path of Least Resistance, Los Angeles-based painter Jon Ching turns inward, creating a body of work shaped by personal experience, emotion, and the smaller moments that define everyday life. His richly imagined paintings merge animals, flowers, spiritual symbols, and surreal transformations, allowing natural forms to carry ideas about time, loss, memory, and the changing relationship between people and the environment.

Works in the exhibition move between tenderness and unease, from images of parental bonds and transience to paintings that touch on surveillance, habitat loss, and the pressures of contemporary life. Ching’s detailed hybrids feel both fantastical and deeply grounded in the natural world, creating a contemplative exhibition where beauty becomes a way to think through larger social and personal concerns.
