4 Non Blondes
4 Non Blondes was an American Alternative Rock band formed in San Francisco in 1989, best known for their single, “What’s Up?” which became a massive, multi-platinum global hit in 1993 and is instantly recognizable for its powerful, soaring chorus and raw vocal delivery. The core of the band was the tempestuous relationship between lead singer and songwriter Linda Perry (who would later become a highly successful music producer for artists like Pink and Christina Aguilera), bassist Christa Hillhouse, guitarist Shaunna Hall (later replaced by Roger Rocha), and drummer Wanda Day (later replaced by Dawn Richardson). Their unique sound, which blended the raw edge of the early ’90s alternative scene with blues-rock and folk-rock influences, was primarily showcased on their only studio album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More! (1992), before Perry left in 1994, leading to the band’s immediate dissolution.
