A Case for the Existence of God

Samuel D. Hunter’s A Case for the Existence of God arrives at Rogue Machine Theatre in its Los Angeles premiere, bringing two fathers together in an intimate story about parenthood, economic uncertainty, vulnerability, and the unexpected connections that can emerge between strangers. Set against the pressures of everyday life, the play focuses closely on Ryan and Keith as their circumstances gradually reveal how much they have in common beneath very different surfaces.

Directed by John Perrin Flynn and starring Carlo Mancasola and Nicholas Anthony Reid, the production continues Rogue Machine’s long relationship with playwright Samuel D. Hunter. The play received the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play and a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Play, making this an especially notable addition to Rogue Machine’s season and a thoughtful, emotionally grounded evening of contemporary theater.
