Green Day’s American Idiot

Conundrum Theatre Company presents Green Day’s American Idiot, the explosive two-time Tony Award-winning rock musical based on Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album. Driven by the music and lyrics of Billie Joe Armstrong, with book by Armstrong and Michael Mayer, the show follows Johnny, Tunny, and Will as they search for meaning in a post-9/11 world shaped by disillusionment, addiction, war, and restless youth. With little dialogue and a score that carries the story forward, the production transforms Green Day’s iconic album into a high-voltage theatrical experience.

The musical brings audiences into the emotional and political turbulence of three friends whose lives split in very different directions: Tunny enters the armed forces, Will is pulled back home by family responsibilities, and Johnny is drawn into a dangerous world of love, escape, and self-destruction. Directed by Sydney Turturro, with music direction by Jonny Perl and choreography by GiGi Gray, this Conundrum Theatre Company production promises an urgent, hard-driving night of theatre filled with rock energy, movement, and raw emotion. The production runs July 10–12 and July 17–19, 2026, at The Broadwater Main Stage Theater.
