Joe Hisaishi Film Music Concert: Featuring Studio Ghibli & More

The Hollywood Bowl presents Joe Hisaishi Film Music Concert: Featuring Studio Ghibli & More, a three-night celebration of one of the most beloved composers in contemporary film music. As the Bowl’s 2026 Composer in Focus, Joe Hisaishi conducts the Los Angeles Philharmonic in selections from Studio Ghibli and other films, accompanied by some of his favorite film clips. The program highlights the sweeping, emotional music that has helped define classics such as Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo, along with award-winning works connected to director Takeshi Kitano.

The evening brings together the grandeur of the Hollywood Bowl, the full scale of the LA Phil, and the intimate nostalgia of Hisaishi’s film scores. With Hisaishi on the podium, vocalist Mai Fujisawa, soprano Ariadne Greif, and the California State University, Fullerton University Singers directed by Dr. Robert Istad, the concert promises a cinematic and deeply atmospheric experience under the stars.
