Genre-Fluid Mastery: Keyon Harrold & Friends at Blue Note
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Following the buzz of his recent collaborations, Grammy-winning trumpeter and producer Keyon Harrold is set to bring his boundary-defying sound to Blue Note Los Angeles. Performing under the moniker “Keyon Harrold & Friends,” the artist will headline a series of shows on Monday, January 12, and Monday, February 2, 2026, offering a raw and refined look into the future of jazz.
Known for a “signature sound” that blends cinematic soul, hip-hop, and R&B, Harrold’s residency is expected to feature a revolving door of elite collaborators. While the specific “Friends” for each night are often kept under wraps to maintain the spontaneity of the Blue Note experience, Harrold’s recent work has seen him share the stage and studio with heavyweights like Common, Robert Glasper, PJ Morton, and Maxwell.
Beyond the Trumpet
Harrold’s latest album, Foreverland, has solidified his reputation as a “genre-fluid innovator.” The live experience at Blue Note typically leans into this versatility, moving seamlessly from virtuosic trumpet solos to soulful vocal arrangements. Critics have praised his recent performances for being “intimate yet expansive,” capturing the emotional depth of his Missouri roots while pushing toward a futuristic, global sound.
The January 12 performance carries additional weight, as Harrold is also scheduled to perform the score from the film American Fiction alongside composer Laura Karpman and flutist Elena Pinderhughes earlier that evening, showcasing his deep ties to the cinematic world.
