Loco México Mágico

Hola México Film Festival opens with Loco México Mágico, a lively comedy from director Carlos Santos about an eccentric mayor determined to transform Alvarado, Veracruz, into a major tourist destination by making a Hollywood-style movie. With plenty of ambition, almost no budget, and virtually no filmmaking experience, he recruits a colorful group of local residents—including a quinceañera videographer suddenly promoted to director—to help bring his impossible production to life.

Filled with improvised special effects, oversized dreams, and distinctly Mexican ingenuity, the film turns the chaos of amateur filmmaking into a celebration of community and creativity. The screening launches the 18th annual Hola México Film Festival, which continues with Mexican cinema and special events across Los Angeles through October 3, 2026.
