The Wachowskis’ visually exuberant Speed Racer races back onto the big screen in 35mm, turning the Vista into a kaleidoscopic playground of saturated color, kinetic action, and larger-than-life racing spectacle. Emile Hirsch stars as Speed, joined by Matthew Fox and Christina Ricci in the filmmakers’ bold live-action interpretation of the classic racing hero.
With its stylized editing, elaborate racing sequences, and unapologetically maximalist design, Speed Racer has earned an especially devoted following in the years since its release. Seeing it projected on film offers an ideal opportunity to revisit one of the Wachowskis’ most visually adventurous creations.
