Wick Alexander: Bean Hecho!

Wick Alexander’s Bean Hecho! is a playful and unexpected take on mosaic-making, using beans as both material and conceptual anchor. The series includes baseball portraits, crop-circle-like forms, and other odd, witty compositions, all created through the humble and surprisingly expressive language of frijoles. The exhibition pays homage to California’s multicultural history, particularly the intersections of Mexican and Japanese cultural influence, with portraits of Japanese baseball players rendered through an unconventional material vocabulary.
