Young Writers Project 2025
Experience the raw, unfiltered energy of the next generation of storytellers with the Young Writers Project (YWP) at Theatre of NOTE. Now in its 24th year, this celebrated program serves as a vibrant bridge between established theater professionals and the bold, emerging voices of high school students from across Southern California.
The vibe is one of pure inspiration and creative vitality—a community-focused celebration where the future of American theater takes center stage. It is an invitation to witness the birth of original works that are as diverse and daring as the young playwrights who conceive them. The atmosphere is electric with the shared excitement of discovery, culminating in a series of live performances that are both deeply moving and surprisingly profound.
The production brings together a dynamic collaboration of NOTE members and guest artists who serve as actors and directors to bring these student-written scripts to life with professional polish. Since its inception, the project has premiered over 80 plays, many of which have gone on to garner prestigious awards. Join us for a sophisticated yet spirited afternoon of theater that honors the power of a young person’s voice and the enduring importance of community-driven art.
