A Platonic Valentine’s Comedy: Sweet Air at McCadden Place Theatre

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Experience the “first breaths of an unlikely friendship” as the new comedy Sweet Air arrives at the McCadden Place Theatre. Written by multiple award-winning playwright Matt Morillo and directed by Katie Oliver, the production opens January 23 and runs through February 15, 2026.

Set in the dead of night at a deserted New York City subway station, Sweet Air follows two strangers, Robbie and Galen, who find themselves stranded and broke on a freezing Valentine’s Day. What begins as a shared commiseration over a miserable holiday evolves into a deep, post-pandemic bond as they “unravel the mysteries of the universe and romantic comedies” while waiting for a train that never seems to arrive.

From Fringe Hit to Full Feature

A truncated version of Sweet Air debuted to critical acclaim at the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival. This mounting marks the premiere of the play’s intended 70-minute version, featuring a brand-new cast and expanded dialogue.
