Chameleon – A New Musical
Chameleon – A New Musical brings a fresh world premiere to the Hudson Mainstage Theatre with a story shaped by identity, friendship, pressure, and the complicated emotional lives of young people. Set at the fictional Villegas High School in Whittier, California, the musical follows Sam, a teen film actor preparing for a major role while carrying the weight of expectations from his director father. His world shifts when Chase, another student navigating anxiety and depression, asks Sam to pretend to be him for a week. What begins as a bold role reversal opens into a larger exploration of self-perception, performance, connection, and the desire to be understood. With book, music, and lyrics by Daisy Villegas, the production blends comedy, heart, and contemporary musical storytelling into a coming-of-age experience that feels both playful and emotionally grounded. The cast includes Donnie Sarabia as Chase and Tyler Vazquez as Sam, alongside Chima Rok, Delvin Harrington, Angelina Melendez, Dan Saunders, Mari Mar Lopez, Biola Fatusin, and Brenna Baines, creating an ensemble-driven piece with youthful energy and emotional sincerity.
PS: An additional performance is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
