Cursed: My Road to Hollywood

June 14 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cursed: My Road to Hollywood brings Emmy winning director Linda Mendoza to the stage with a comedic memoir that is both funny and deeply personal. A Hollywood Fringe Festival selection, the show follows Mendoza’s journey as a self described “Mexican girl from Detroit” who grows up under the shadow of a supposed family curse, only to carve her own path through perseverance, humor, and talent.

Mendoza’s story moves from family legend and unexpected calamity to a remarkable career in entertainment. She has won three Emmy Awards for Sesame Street and directed episodes of beloved shows including Scrubs, Grown-ish, Black-ish, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Good Place, along with specials featuring Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Wanda Sykes, Tiffany Haddish, and David Letterman.

The result is not a sob story, but a warm and witty live performance about ambition, identity, resilience, and finding success in Hollywood while facing both personal mythology and industry sexism. It is the kind of show that feels intimate, inspiring, and full of personality.
