Tammy McCANN feat: John CLAYTON (bass), Tamir Hendelman (piano), Tamir HENDELMAN (piano) and Clayton Cameron (drums)

March 12 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Following a month of stellar jazz showcases, the Catalina Jazz Club welcomes one of the industry’s most revered vocalists, Tammy McCann, on Thursday, March 12, 2026. McCann, a former “Raelette” with the legendary Ray Charles, brings her signature blend of gospel-infused soul and classical precision to the Sunset Strip for a one-night-only headline event.

Named “Best Jazz Vocal Performance” by the Chicago Tribune, McCann is celebrated for a voice that “soars in all registers.” For this performance, she is joined by a true “dream team” of jazz luminaries, led by Grammy-winning bassist and composer John Clayton.

A World-Class Ensemble

The evening features a rhythm section comprised of some of the most respected names in contemporary jazz:

  • John Clayton (Bass): A pillar of the jazz world, Clayton is a Grammy winner and former artistic director for the Hollywood Bowl. His partnership with McCann ensures a performance grounded in deep groove and sophisticated arrangement.

  • Tamir Hendelman (Piano): Known for his imaginative and technically brilliant playing, Hendelman is a longtime member of the Jeff Hamilton Trio and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.

  • Clayton Cameron (Drums): Famed as the “Brush Master,” Cameron has toured with legends like Sammy Davis Jr. and Tony Bennett, bringing a subtle yet driving rhythmic elegance to the stage.

A Voice That Inspires Wonder

Currently the Artist-in-Residence at the Music Institute of Chicago, McCann is known for her ability to “paint pictures” with her lyrics. Her setlist typically bridges the gap between traditional jazz standards and emotionally charged spirituals, delivered with an engaging personality that has made her a favorite at venues like Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
