Tribute to RUBEN BLADES & HECTOR LAVOE with TROMBOR

Tribute to Ruben Blades & Hector Lavoe with Trombor is a high-octane celebration of the “Salsa Dura” era, scheduled to ignite the stage at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood on Thursday, January 15, 2026. This special performance features Trombor, a premier Los Angeles-based salsa ensemble dedicated to preserving the raw, trombone-heavy sound that defined the 1970s New York underground scene. The evening pays homage to two of the most influential figures in Latin music: the legendary Puerto Rican vocalist Héctor Lavoe, known as “El Cantante de los Cantantes,” and the Panamanian icon Rubén Blades, whose socially conscious lyrics transformed salsa into a medium for storytelling and activism. By channeling the sophisticated rhythmic drive of the Fania Records era, Trombor recreates the magic of classics like “El Cantante”—a song famously written by Blades for Lavoe—offering a powerful, dance-driven experience that captures the urban energy and timeless soul of the Afro-Caribbean movement.
