Words Matter!

Tierra del Sol Gallery presents Words Matter!, an interactive group exhibition featuring seventeen Tierra del Sol artists whose work explores language, expression, and storytelling in many forms. The exhibition asks how words can be spoken, written, drawn, signed, imagined, or transformed, inviting visitors to consider communication as something visual, personal, playful, serious, and deeply powerful. The show includes text-based artwork, an on-site sound installation titled Exquisite Dream, a collaborative wall-writing component, a zine workshop, a live poetry reading, and the release of a new poetry book connected to the exhibition.

Featuring artists including Douglas Allen, Daniel Anten, Marlena Arthur, Mary Lou Dimsdale, Leon Fuller, Jenna Greene, Jose Hernandez, Herb Herod, Evan Hynes, Kyle Johnson, Drucilla “Dru” McKenzie, Zoe Morales, John Peterson, Hugo Rocha, Chloe Simunovic, Liza Torres, and Joe Zaldivar, Words Matter! celebrates voice in the face of marginalization and silence. The exhibition opens on July 18, 2026, with additional programming including a zine-making workshop on August 1 and a live poetry reading on August 11. It is on view through September 5, 2026.
