Harrison Held’s SceneAroundTown….Hollywood!

The beautiful Hollywood Museum just unveiled their latest gem – a terrific exhibit of the iconic Marx Brothers….  Please enjoy Jenn on The Red’s exclusive red-carpet report!  (Legends of Laughter: Your Exclusive Pass to the Marx Brothers Exhibit)

GREASE is the word and always will be…  Mega Star/nice guy John Travolta made a mega surprise appearance at the recent GREASE sing-along at the Hollywood Bowl!  GREASE co-star/nice guy Barry Pearl told me “Our GREASE family continues to be blessed by these events.  We are nothing without our fans.  It is them who keep us relevant and we are exceedingly grateful for their loyalty.  In these terribly trying times the film and events such as these allow folks to escape back into a world that seems much simpler, more loving, and more caring “.  Barry adds “We were gob smacked by John    showing up to this event.  We had no idea he would be there.  Didi and (director) Randall knew but because John couldn’t be absolutely certain he’d be able to make it, they didn’t share the news with us so as to prevent disappointment. Michael Tucci and Kelly Ward also joined us.   Olivia was sorely missed.  Randall had put together a two-minute video tribute which I’d contributed photos for and was going to introduce.  However, it was felt that though it was a beautiful and loving piece it might have taken the crowd to a somber place which was counter to the feeling of the evening.  It will be used in another forum – the LIFE AFTER GREASE documentary which Randal and director Lisa Downs are producing”.  That will be really interesting and fun to watch!

Genius GREASE casting director/nice guy Joel Thurm deserves  a  million accolades for the superb cast he put together for this film and countless other films and TV shows… that’s him in the middle of the photo in the white t shirt taken in Olivia Newton-John’s tour bus in Florida in 2019!  Joel is also a great photographer, writer and painter.  His book “Sex, Drugs and Pilot Season” is a must read. Nice Guy/Mega Magazine Publisher/Actor/Director was SceneAroundTown recently judging the Ms. Nationality contest!

Jennifer Holland Still aka Jenn on the Red is a wonderful   TV Host/Interviewer.  She is a former SAG AFTRA rep & documentary maker.   She spent a very nice July 4th with her son Brendan & husband Dave with her neighbors in Malibu.  Here’s her exclusive report at a recent Costumer’s Guild Event honoring the iconic movie Gilda and it’s star Rita Hayworth!  (“Gilda” Glamour Shines at CDG Movie Night)

I just joined comic Dominic Holland’s Patreon site – he is funny and a witty writer and I’m looking forward to the entertainment!  He and photographer-wife Nikki are proud parents to four sons…Tom, Paddy, Harry, and Sam.   Dom is SceneAroundTown with eldest movie star son, Tom, wearing hats that promote Tom’s premium non-alcohol beer.  I’ll drink to that!

Dr. Lynn Richardson was scenearoundtown giving out good medical and financial advice to musicians and music professionals at recent health clinic at their Santa Monica HQ’s.

The Legendary Tatum O’Neal was on hand for a screening of her classic film Little Darlings at Vidiots… Fans as always were delighted to see her!   Legendary actor Macauley Culkin and his beautiful partner Brenda Song recently celebrated eight beautiful years of togetherness… Here’s to many more!

Congratulations to the good souls at Theater West who raised over $2,000 in one night to help Altadena mother and son fire victims Carline and Stephan McGrue.  The fundraiser was spearheaded by producer Sardia Robinson, Theater West and MyKeetv.  They are seen with actor/producer Dina Morrone in the photo here.  Dina’s terrific one woman show, “My Uterus: A Womb with A View,” made a triumphant return engagement July 12th and July 13th to benefit the theater. Lots of talent and nice people at Theater West!

We mourn the shocking losses of Loretta Swit, Michael Madison, and Julian McMahon.    I took the photo seen here of Loretta about 5 years ago celebrating her birthday at the beautiful Hollywood Museum.  She, Michael Madison, and Julian will be missed very much.  Condolences to all their loved ones.

We also mourn the loss of veteran very talented actor/singer Jack Betts.  He lived a long, happy and successful life…   Hopefully, he is having a happy heavenly reunion with long-term belle, Doris Roberts…

Check out the great one man show called Tevye in New York starring talented Tom Dugan coming up at Theatre West on July 19th and 20th.  It’s a very entertaining very imaginative portrait of what Tevye’s life in New York would like based on Shalom Alechem’s iconic Tevye character in Fiddler on the Roof but it is not a musical.

Congratulations to the very funny Fritz Coleman who recently concluded a very successful run of “Unassisted Living” at the Monroe Forum Theatre at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood. Comedian Wendy Leibman and musician Lawrence Juber joined the retired TV meteorologist /honorary Mayor of Toluca Lake.

Talented playwright Dallas Bancroft is excited that she has a new play in the BRISK Festival coming up in August called The Understudy which mirrors the many ways people react in a crisis….   in this fast paced 10-minute piece “the show must go on” aphorism is put to the test!  It is directed by the creative innovative John Fingal O’Donnell.

Happy 85th birthday to the beloved iconic Ringo Starr who continues to spread his annual message of love, peace and goodwill across the globe.  I like that… What a Good Man!    HH
