THE MUSIC THAT MAKES ME DANCE – The Songs of Jule Styne
Reviewed by Amalisha HuEck
The magical, unforgettable music of legendary Jule Styne, an English American songwriter and composer, has been presented at the El Portal Theatre in NOHO. Widely known for a series of Broadway musicals; the World Premiere of THE MUSIC THAT MAKES ME DANCE is truly sensational. Once you hear the music, you can never un-heard it.
With Lyrics by Sammy Cahn, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, Herb Gardner, Leo Robin, Bob Hilliard, Bob Merrill and Stephen Sondheim, the show is devised and created by Scott Thompson (Director and Choreographer), and produced by Jeramiah Peay. The pure magic is woven throughout every moment.
Brilliant, energetic and electrifying performances by the Actors Equity Cast of Broadway Headliners includes; Anneliese van der Pol, Nick Adams, Lana Gordon, Angel Reda, Rhett George, Neil Starkenberg. With the impeccable, gorgeous vocals and infectious energy, the six performers are singing and dancing with pure magic — every scene felt alive and unforgettable. The music, acting, and energy blended so perfectly, it felt like stepping into another world. The actors are supported by Fred Barton (Music Arranger and Conductor), leading ARTCO’s 10-piece band.

For three years, every Saturday from 1 to 5 ARTCO has classes for youth. Someday soon these youngsters will be on the Broadway stage. In this show Michael Zampino performs with impressive tapdancing, acting and singing. Great talent. Keep working on your craft, Michael.
There were only five performances, May 1-3, 2026 at Debbie Reynolds Main Stage, located at 5269 Lankershim Boulevard (at Wedington Street), NOHO. An outstanding show – I’ll remember for a long time.
