HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

What can be more beautiful than majestic soulful singing voice, telling the sensitive truth with humility.  Electrifying and unforgettable performance!

Actor and singer Karen Macarah is performing her one woman’s journey from self-deprecation to self-acceptance and self-love. Embodying various comedic characters and singing from beloved Broadway musicals, from the middle of the twentieth century until today, this Dysmorphic Diva will dazzle and disarm you with numbers she’s performed in theaters around the country.

Featuring songs from “Cabaret,” “Falsettos,” “Grey Gardens,” “Fiddler on the Roof” “The Prom,” “Merrily We Roll Along” and others, you’ll be feeling like life is indeed a cabaret when you walk out of this uplifting show.

Written and performed by Karen Macarah and produced by Soaring Solo Studios, the world premiere of The Dysmorphic Diva, a “confessional cabaret” vibrantly expresses her heartwarming story of a part of her life when she did everything to be a hot skinny chick, get the guy she wanted, and dealt with the painful death of her beautiful mother. Not to forget to mention that she became a sister when she was 42 years old.

Macarah is sensational. Her mesmerizing, delightfully captivating voice is enchanting. Her stories provoke strong emotions and memories. The subject of being thin touches many of us. There was some chubby girl sitting next to me and she was quietly sobbing…

And we again have Heather Dowling – solo coach, an award-winning writer, actor and director and producer Jessica Lynn Johnson, a published playwright, recipient of Best National Solo Arist Award doing their skillful, enchanting work to get the play to be the best it can be. They are Divas of the Fringe Festival.

Music Director Jonny Perl is thrilled to be working with Karen on this debut show by playing piano, and his beautiful voice accompanies her in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ number. They are magical together.
