LA’s hottest landlord has found himself at the pinnacle of property management – the Landlord Hall of Fame. Little radio, upbeat music, he’s dancing a funny dance showing his tummy and by having a mic on the side, he makes his tummy dance. Standing under a beam of light, he is praying to God. He is a religious man.
What would you do if you had it all? All the land? Doofus struggles to answer that question as well as ‘Why am I even a landlord? Everyone hates landlords. Is my life a lie?
He had a rough morning. Had to raise rent on tenants. That was difficult. But now that that is out of the way, it’s party time – maybe some sweet dessert would be nice. And it’s Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day everyone!
Sketchprov Houston Staple Brings Debut of DOOFUS, written & performed by Cole Triplett, a writer, improviser, and clown whose analog brand of brain rot shines brightest live on stage. Their journey began in the Houston comedy scene, where they infused “sketch-prov” into every show they produced until they moved to LA and realized that was clown!
For the last 10 years, Cole has performed across the country including New York, Chicago, Austin, and Hartford. They are over the moon to finally debut their solo show, Doofus, influenced by all the people and places they’ve loved and collected. Directed by award-winning Natasha Mercado, the limits of sketch and improv are explored, and a theatrical experience delivered that is both hilarious, innovative, and unexpectedly moving.
A standout new work from a bold and inventive comedic voice. This solo clown performance arrives at Fringe with a sharply bouffon, self-aware edge: a charismatic yet deeply flawed landlord takes center stage in a darkly humorous exploration of desire, power, and contradiction. Blending satire with vulnerability, the show leans into the tension of being drawn to exactly the kind of person you know you should resist.
With heightened physicality and absurdist flair, Triplett embodies a character who is as magnetic as he is morally questionable, inviting audiences to laugh, cringe, and perhaps recognize their own complicated impulses. Triplett is charming, flexible and creative!
