Congratulations to the incomparable Harrison Ford on receiving his well-deserved SAG Life Achievement Award! He’s a very down to earth super star… When I met him at a premier party c. 2007 I gave him greetings from our mutual friend acclaimed photographer Ron Batzdorff.  Ron and Harrison worked together as carpenters early on.  He asked me what Ron was up to so I said “You know those billboards for Flight Plan with Jody Foster?  Ron shot those” to which Harrison replied ‘It’s nice to know that one of the guys has done so well!”…  Very down to earth and humble.

Stellar and dynamic filmmaker James Cameron was to receive WGAW’s 2026 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement March 8th  but the guild cancelled the show for now because non-supervisory staff at the WGAW staff have been on strike since February 17 so postponing it is the right thing to do…

The late Sally Kirkland invited me to the Titanic Oscar party but when I got there she was party hopping elsewhere. While waiting outside, I chatted with Jay Leno and his lovely wife Mavis as they were leaving and absent mindedly picked up a glass sitting by the coat check… A security guard walked out, was very alarmed and said  “You can’t bring liquor outside , you have to go back in!”   So in I went with the glass… I hadn’t seen the movie yet.It was a very lavish Oscar party packed with stars and movers and shakers.  Suddenly James Cameron arrived with his Oscar on hand…”I’m king of the world!  I’m king of the world” he said proudly waving his award.  Like I mentioned hadn’t seen the movie yet and didn’t know “I’m king of the world” was a key catch phrase… “Man, does he ever have a big ego” I thought to myself.  Soon after I did see Titanic and learned what “I’m king of the world” meant… I went back several more times.  What a great movie .  Congratulations, Mr. Cameron, on your latest award, date TBA.  You’ve brought great entertainment to millions and millions!
