For 25 years, as a small theater with a big heart Casa 0101 Theater, has been more than a stage. It’s been a cultural anchor for Boyle heights community in East LA, a neighborhood at the crossroads of systemic inequity, gentrification, and resilience. Founded by Josefina López, author of Real Women Have Curves, this small but mighty theater has become a sacred space where community stories, immigrant voices, and underrepresented dreams have taken center stage. As the year 2025 is almost over CASA 0101 Theater, made a great choice to close out their current 25th Anniversary Season with an epic tale. With a pitch-perfect ensemble of 22 actors DreamWorks THE PRINCE OF EGYPT: THE MUSICAL is rocking in this small community.

The Musical is based on the Book of Exodus, with songs from the 1998 DreamWorks Animation film of the same name.  As the story unfolds audience members will journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as two young men, Moses and Ramses, raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past.  One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.

Under powerful direction of Rigo Tejeda, the Music and Lyrics by Stephen Scwhartz and Book by Phillip LaZebnik, the leads Diego Huerta-Gutierrez as Moses and Christopher J Thume as Ramses with their strong, powerful singing voices shine with the star qualities, and keep the audience at the edge of their seats, letting them enjoy every moment with true amazement.

The creativity of director and everyone involved gets us to see seven actors becoming the river and carrying the basket with baby Moses to its destination. Nine people playing a fire at the burning bush and becoming horses and chariots with the wind blowing their capes. Every moment is so carefully planned and executed, and truly amazing to watch. The parting of the sea is being helped by three side projections on the walls, which created three images of the sea being parted. Fabolous!

Produced by Emmanuel Deleague and Abel Alvarado, the other shining principal actors are, Joslynn Cortes as Tzipporah, Chrissi Erickson as Miriam, Aiden Ricardo Heredia as young Aaron, Danielle Johnson as Queen Tuya, Sammy J Kohler as Aaron, Naledi Miga as Nefertari, Sofia Lopez as young Miriam/Leah, Tal Toker as Hotep and Toni Elizabeth White as Yocheved, Julian Armaya as Seti and Shepard, Christopher D.Baker as Jethro and Ensemble. The rest of the ensemble who with easy ballet steps and enthusiastic singing truly rock that stage include, Aaron Gibbs as Ensemble/Moses & Ramses understudy as well, Kayleigh Long as Keturah/Ensemble/Dance Captain, Gabriella Ortiz as an ensemble member, Emily Ann Pember, Faith Perez, Alyssa Rojas, Joseph Rosales and Abraxaz Efrain Sanchez Lopez as ensemble and Fight Captain.

The Show Producer is Abel Alvarado, Karla Ojeda is Assistant Director, and Gabrielle Maldonado is Music Directo. Tania Possick (Choreographer), Joaquin Madrid Larranaga (Stage Manager), Anthony Storniolo (Projection Designer), Alejandro Parra (Lighting Designer), Angelica Ornelas (Sound Engineer), Cesar Retana-Holguin (Scenic Design), Audry Szot (Props), Jay Guerrero (Assistant Stage Manager), Jasmine Morales (Assistant Stage Manager), Jeremiah Ocanas (Set Building Assistant) and Steve Moyer Public Relations is the Press Representative.
