WHO’S HOLIDAY at FrostyFest – The Hobgoblin Playhouse

FrostyFest, Los Angeles’ annual holiday performing arts festival is happening again this year from December 11–22, 2025 at the Hobgoblin Playhouse. Presented by The StageCrafts, the festival features a diverse collection of short plays, comedic holiday adaptations, and a curated film festival featuring local artists and independent creators from around the world.

One of the performances caught my attention. “Who’s Holiday,” written in rhymes by Matthew Lombardo, telling the story of Cindy Lou Who as the grown up. The play is set in her trailer park home, where she prepares for a Christmas party. A tiny kitchen, with a tiny stove and refrigerator, and a table full of hard alcoholic drinks. On the opposite side, there is a cute Christmas tree with lights and decorations. The party involves her talking about her life, where she exposes her ignorance when she was a youth, and her childhood encounter with the Grinch and all the circumstances since then.

Anica Petrovic (Actor/Producer) under the direction of Taylor Wesselman (Director/Producer) masterfully flows with ease through the rhythm of all those rhymes.    By breaking the fourth wall at the very beginning, she reveals her story with adult humor and very sexy, glittery Christmas outfits. By not missing a beat, her great comedic timing and deeply felt emotional depth, shows that she is a wonderful storyteller. This unique, delightful comedy made the packed theatre audience laugh out loud from beginning to end. The show is definitely in the R category, and it is not suitable for children.                                 It is highly recommended!

Anica noted, ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration on this project with the Domino Too team. It has been one of the most professional and most creative theatrical experiences I’ve had in LA. I have also found the role of Cindy to be challenging yet extremely fulfilling — the emotional rollercoaster this character goes on in front of the audience is quite an undertaking, but it really is all led by Cindy’s big heart, and I am honored to share that journey with the audience and to send them home with a loving message for the holidays.’

The Creatives are, Jordan Adelman (Assistant Director/Stage Manager), Rebkah York (Assistant Stage Manager), Angela Manke (Costume Designer), Ben Barahona Ginsberg (Music Director), and Gregory Crafts (Lighting Designer).

“Who’s Holiday “runs through December 20th at The Hobgoblin Playhouse, 1516 N Gardner St. in LA. Remaining performances are on Friday 12/19 at 10pm, and Saturday 12/20 at 5pm. There will also be a virtual livestream of the show on the 19th, and the link to the live will remain open after the live show ends. Running time is 70 minutes with no intermission.

House will open 5-10minutes before the show. There is plenty of street parking but mostly metered. Advice for the audience is to arrive early due to recent traffic delays. The show is part of a festival that requires it to start exactly on time, as another show will come shortly after this one ends. We do not want anyone to miss it, even though the show is almost sold out.

Tickets are $25 and they can be purchased by calling (323) 591 – 4894 or going to www.thestagecrafts.com
